Fruitlands Museum Wedding
The Fruitlands Museum in Harvard, MA is one of the best wedding venues in the Boston area. The Museum and its grounds are only about 45 minutes from Boston, but you & your guests will feel like you are truly in the mountains. The venue is a historic property, with indoor and outdoor wedding ceremony options. I had the extreme good fortune to photograph Ramona & Andrew’s October 2024 wedding at the Fruitlands Museum, and although it rained off and on through the day, we were still able to make ample use of the Museum’s grounds, including portraits with the sweeping foliage-drenched vista of the Nashua River Valley behind us.
The buildings on the Fruitlands property date to the early 1900’s, and some to the mid 1800’s, so the getting ready spaces are filled with character and charm, while still offering plenty of light and space. On site event staff were able to assist with questions, including helping with the rain plan, so we were still able to photograph in beautiful places across the grounds. For example, Ramona & Andrew had their first look on the porch of the 1800’s farmhouse (which I photographed while standing out in the rain - anything for the shot!), and so they stayed dry before ceremony time.
Ramona & Andrew had been hoping for an outdoor wedding ceremony at Fruitlands, but the rain pushed us to our plan B, with the ceremony hosted on the patio under a beautiful white tent. Guests were able to stay dry, while still enjoying a portion of the (admittedly foggy) view over the rolling hills. One of my favorite details from Ramona & Andrew’s wedding was Ramona walking down the aisle to the Jurassic Park theme.
After ceremony, we had a brief break in the rain, so we were able to get some portraits and family photos with the beautiful vista behind us. After a lovely dinner (catered by the in-house team at Fruitlands, one of the venue’s many advantages), Ramona & Andrew cut their cake with a giant sword (because DUH) and we danced the night away to a mix oldies and motown hits led by DJ Mike Stripez.
If you’re looking for a Boston area wedding venue with easy access to the city, but still giving you the feeling of being out in the mountains, the Fruitlands Museum is a wonderful choice!
